Cancer Care Northwest is seeking a Full-time Patient Account Specialist.
The Patient Account Specialist is an important member or our billing/reimbursement team and is responsible to ensure that professional/hospital services provided by Cancer Care Northwest are reimbursed by third party payers including Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care Organizations, third-party payers and/or facilities. You will resolve claim denials, short-payments, credits and outstanding claims to ensure timely and appropriate reimbursement. The Patient Account Specialist team also answers incoming calls to assist patients with inquiries.
Essential Job Functions may include:
- Demonstrates knowledge of insurance benefits that affect claim payment, rules/regulations regarding payer billing guidelines and familiarity with payer websites and claim processing procedures.
- Basic understanding of ICD10, CPT/HCPC, modifiers, place of service and insurance EOBs.
- Identify denials and underpayments.
- Submitting corrected claims, preparing and submitting grievances and appeals and resolving claim rejections.
- Ability to navigate payer websites and use delegated claim resolution tools.
- Review and respond to written correspondence.
- Ensure patient account data is accurate and communicate with team members to correct any variances.
- Document all activity in the Practice Management System.
- Complete written requests to make appropriate AR adjustments and/or refund requests.
- Prioritizes and completes all work in an accurate, effective and efficient manner.
- Resolve outstanding accounts at required productivity and accuracy requirements.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the work assigned.
- Maintains open and professional communications with customers, colleagues and vendors.
- Performs well in a team environment.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of patient accounts experience or, two (2) years of medical business office experience.
