Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Surgical Oncology/Head & Neck - Ascension

We Are Hiring:

• Department: Surgical Oncology
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, Full-time, Night shift, Monday - Friday, Saturday & Sunday
• Hospital: Ascension St. Vincent
• Location: Indianapolis, IN

What You Will Do:

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.

• Aid with movement and placement of patients.
• Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
• Report findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Document necessary records.
• Keep patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintain medical equipment.

What You Will Need:

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Preferences:

Full-time - Night shift position

Patient Care experience preferred (CNA, Home Health Aide, Patient Care Technician, EMT etc.)

Patients we Serve:

• Surgical Oncology: Pre and post-operative care for patients with a cancer diagnosis. Nursing care focuses on pain management, monitoring input and output, advancing nutrition, drain and tube management, postoperative ambulation, wound care, and discharge teaching.
• General Surgery: Pre and post operative care or medical management to prepare for surgery.
  6EW nurses participate in decision-making, mentoring and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to focus on providing care to a highly acute population of surgical oncology and general surgery patients in a fast paced environment. Location and schedule:

Ascension St. Vincent Surgical Oncology unit is located at 2001 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260 is hiring Full-time (3) 12-hour shifts, Night shift - 7:00PM – 7:30AM schedule.  Every third weekend rotation and unit holiday rotation schedule.
