About the Job
The Patient Care Tech is responsible for a variety of tasks, clerical duties, and services to assist in the provision of care and comfort for patients under the direction of the department RNs, Supervisor and Manager. Works with the nursing personnel and providers to deliver quality care for patients and their families. The Patient Care Tech works collaboratively with nurses and providers to assure seamless care for all patients and families having procedures or surgery. The Patient Care Tech will report and record observations and contribute to the efficient functionality of the department.

Responsibilities:Key Accountability

Key Accountability Assist nursing staff with patient cares: · Prep individual patient care area: ice chips, ice packs, IV tubing, and other supplies as needed · Assist nursing staff in bedside patient care: temperature, warm blankets, SCD hose, clean linen, empty foley or and drainage containers. · Assist nursing staff with pediatric care and two (2) staff pediatric transport. · Transport patients · Assist in monitoring stage II APS patients with APS nurse | 40% | |
Key Accountability · Responsible for clerical duties of the clinic: arrival in EMR, chart preparation, phone management, reminder calls, assist charge nurse at desk and facilitates communication between team members utilizing Vocera · Prepares patient care rooms and procedure rooms for patient care. Organize, clean, and maintain clinic work areas, supplies, and equipment. Assisting with stocking and management/ordering supplies.

Basic UPH Performance Criteria · Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. · Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. · Employee maintains current certifications required for the position. · Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. · Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year. · Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance. | 10% | |
