Premier Medical Resources (77040) is hiring for a Full-Time Patient Collections Specialist is responsible for managing, monitoring, and contacting individuals with unresolved bills to collect payments under the supervision of the Billing Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Maintains confidentiality of medical records
• Answers billing office phone calls including requests for information and claim review
• Initiates contact to patients with past due balances
• Resolves outstanding claims and appeal any denied or unpaid claims
• Works with appropriate individuals to resolve discrepancies
• Processes and posts patient payments daily to ensure account balances correctly reflect the current balance due
• Researches and processes all refund requests within the insurance contractual obligations and state and federal laws
• Interprets department policies and procedures to personnel, patients/family members, etc., as necessary
• Supports the Account Recovery Specialist team
• Performs other related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Demonstrates critical thinking skills, ability to organize and resolve outstanding delinquencies
• Demonstrates decision-making skills based on accurate information and/or analysis of data
• Strong communication skills and problem-solving skills
• Solid knowledge of medical terminology, technical job knowledge, CPT codes, ICD-10 codes and procedures
• Ability to adapt and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite including World, Outlook, and strong Excel skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• High School Diploma or GED
• One (1) year of insurance collections/billing reimbursement experience in a hospital setting
