Job Summary and Qualifications
Position Summary: Demonstrates accountability and responsibility in coordination of daily patient registration and scheduling.
Essential Functions:
- Provides administrative clerical support for the day-to-day operations of the department. Contributes to optimizing customer satisfaction and the continuity and effective operation of the department.
- Coordinates daily patient scheduling. Responsible for providing customer focused, efficient and professional patient registration and order entry.
- Updates existing patient system information to ensure accuracy of demographic and insurance data. Obtains pre-authorization when needed from payor.
- Maintains proactive and effective communication with all members of the departmental team; communicates any concerns or issues regarding patient scheduling immediately.
- Responsible for the collection and interpretation of physicians' orders, and in obtaining all relevant information related to the registration and order entry process.
- Composes, prepares and manages office correspondence, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Courteously facilitates and handles requests, complaints and communications with staff, physicians, and guests. Exercises good judgment, discretion and diplomacy in communications.
What qualifications you will need:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Associates degree in business or related field preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Minimum of 1 year of directly related work experience in patient registration, billing or collections in a hospital or physician office setting.
