One of our client, an Health Center located in Delaware, is looking for an Patient Service Representative.

Location: Delaware
Schedule: Mon-Thu 08:00am-07:00pm, Fri 08:00am-05:00pm
Job Summary:
• Performs secretarial/reception duties in support of general medical office activities to relieve medical professional personnel of clerical and administrative details and to maintain an efficient and effective operation.
Essential Responsibilities:
• The following duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all associates in this classification.
• Listed are duties intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities.
• Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
• Sets up EMR of new patient information including personal contact information, insurance type, prior medical records and miscellaneous information in an organized fashion.
• Operates general office machines to include computers, copy machines, calculators and fax equipment.
• Answers telephone, screen calls, respond to routine questions and take messages in accordance with physician's instructions
• Serve as receptionist for health center; greets patients in a professional, friendly manner, makes appointments or proper referrals according to instructions and procedures
• Prepare documents and materials for referrals, labs, or x-ray facilities as requested.
• Minimizes patients' stress by anticipating their anxieties answering questions, and maintaining a calm and orderly environment in the reception area.
• Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies and solving problems accordingly.
• Participates as integral member of patient centered team with a nurse and physician, communicating with patients to schedule appointments and as a conduit for physicians and nurses with patients.
• Makes appropriate entries into the patient's electronic medical records.
• Ensures contact, emergency and insurance information is updated at every visit.
• Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal and financial information.
• Determines appropriate sliding fee scale classifications for patients and collects appropriate payments and co-payments from patients.
• Determines insurance copays and collects appropriate funds
Reconciles daily collections with Office Coordinator.
• Opens and closes reception/waiting room area, (locking doors, closing blinds, turning off lights, ensuring area is clean and sanitized daily).
• Keeps an eye's view regarding the patients' activities of the reception/waiting area
Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of related medical clerical experience preferred.
• A completed medical secretarial program (nine months up to two years accredited program) may be substituted for equivalent experience.
• Computer proficiency with outlook, word, excel required
Prior experience with EMR preferred.
