FLSA STATUS: Hourly (Non-Exempt)
JOB SUMMARY:
Welcomes patients, visitors, vendors and staff by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; registers patients and checks patients in for appointments, answers or refers inquiries.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares office for daily activities
- Screens visitors and responds to routine requests for information
- Greets patients arriving for appointments and ensures that all paperwork, insurance information etc. are up to date and correct
- Collects co-pay if necessary and issues receipt
- Notifies physician office and/or clinic staff of patient arrivals
- Maintains accurate and timely patient information in Centricity database
- Checks films in through computer database
- Answers telephones and transfers caller to appropriate staff member
- Scans all appropriate paperwork into EMR including outside records
- Attends staff meetings and participates in special committees
- Other duties and assignments as necessary

- Dresses appropriately and professionally
- Works independently, without direct supervision
- Completes work accurately and in a timely manner
- Excellent oral, written & telephone communication, along with tact, diplomacy
- Strong customer service skills
- Prioritizes work activities and accepts multiple job duties
- Maintains effective working relationships with physicians, administration and other staff members
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Prior experience in a medical office setting preferred
- Some knowledge of medical terminology desirable, but not mandatory
