Overview
Overview: This position is responsible for differentiating and understanding the operation of Caterpillar paving products, associated technology to create additional sales, and help grow market share. Success also depends on the ability to trouble-shoot paving associated problems, answer technology related questions, and determine if a question can be answered over the phone or in person.
Basic Duties
Basic Duties:
- Serve as a liaison between Altorfer Inc., our customers, and Caterpillar Inc.
- Set up and assist Altorfer sales reps with equipment demonstrations to facilitate equipment sales.
- Handle new machine start-ups upon delivery. Evaluate the equipment with the customer to ensure it’s what the customers wants and start-up the equipment for the customer to reassure the equipment is working correctly.
- General on-site support: when customers have product issues, the Paving Specialist will assist the operator and try to resolve.
- Conduct and implement training as needed.
- Promote safety and environmental responsibility.
- 30% travel is required with some overnights when needed
- Offer support that meets or exceeds customer expectations and helps resolve customer issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and previous background in asphalt paving, milling, soil stabilization, and compaction preferred.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Must be flexible during the paving season to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
- Willingness to travel to trade shows, store locations, other sites for training and stay overnight if required.
- Must always have outstanding positive attitude.
- Must be a self-starter with good time management and ability to multitask.
- Computer literate required. Must be able to work in multiple applications at the same time and familiar with programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess excellent customer service skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).
Must be able to pass required background checks for access to restricted jobsites
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Working Conditions:
This position is in the field. May on a continuous basis walk, bend and lift up to 75lbs. Travel & work is performed under a variety of weather extremes, from wet to dry, from cold to hot. May be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields) when needed. The noise level in the field/shop environment is usually moderate to high and office environment noise level is usually moderate to low. May intermittently sit at a desk for a period of time to answer telephone calls and write or use a keyboard to communicate through email. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
