The Payroll Specialist receives direct supervision from the Payroll Manager
Responsibilities:
- Enters, maintains, and/or processes information for payroll processing.
- Review and ensure accuracy of weekly and bi-weekly timesheets.
- Ensures proper processing of payroll by reviewing registers and reports to confirm timely and accurate processing of transactions including hours, salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Perform daily payroll department operations.
- Understand and explain proper taxation of earnings and employer paid benefits.
- Proper Handling of Direct Deposit, Pay Card, and/or live checks.
- Administration of the electronic timekeeping system.
- Understand and explain form W-2 entries as needed.
- Prepare payroll reports from payroll system as requested.
- Maintains complete confidentiality with company and associates personal information.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Demonstrate accountability, compliance, and adherence to company policies and procedures, and confidentiality.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Manage uncashed paychecks including compliance with unclaimed property laws.
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in payroll processing.
- Develop and maintain payroll expertise regarding payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Maintain a professional demeanor, demonstrate a positive attitude, communicate effectively with co-workers and associates.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- At least two years' experience as a Payroll Specialist or experience equivalent.
- Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system.
- Knowledge of garnishment calculations and compliance.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized.
- Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees.
- Proactive with excellent troubleshooting, problem resolution, and follow-through skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with payroll processing peice count.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with heavy emphasis on Excel
- Must exhibit a high level of integrity and business ethics.
- Requires a high level of adaptability and flexibility.
- Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.
PAY DOE $27 OR $31
