Overview:
Reporting to the Director, Payroll Services, HSL’s Payroll Analyst/Timekeeper will support the processing of a bi-weekly payroll and time cards for 9 legal entities, across 2,400 employees This role will work closely with teams across Finance, HRIS, Benefits and Compensation as it relates to Timekeeping and the production of payroll.
Responsibilities:- Calculates and balances earnings and deduction totals, preparing payroll entries, garnishments, and calculating deduction in arrears from employees returning from leave, auditing and analyzing automated system output such as registers and standard reports
- Troubleshoots payroll issues, determines root cause and partners with the Director, Payroll Services, HR and Finance to develop proactive measures to achieve best practices and regulatory compliance
- Develops full understanding of the inputs and outputs of payroll cycles. Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, analyzing and entering data using the UKG/Kronos and ADP payroll system in accordance with policy and procedures. HSL is beginning a Workday implementation project which will be our system of record in early 2025.
- Handles Wage Verifications
- Reports and completes remittance of payroll deductions
- Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures and have knowledge of what data and calculations are required in assigned areas
- Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Ensures complete, accurate and timely processing of information
- Collaborates with colleagues as well as other business areas, including Human Resources and Finance
- Assists with Year End W-2 processing
- Provides balance sheet account reconciliation support
- Provides analysis and reporting as required and assigned by management
- Provides customer service by responding to employee questions and requests. Monitor the Payroll mailbox and responds timely
- Strong attention to detail, ability to deal with time-critical time-sensitive activities, proficient computer and data entry skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills are essential
- A minimum of 3 years payroll experience.
- Solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Excel (can perform complex functions)
- A detail oriented skill set, are organized and focused on accuracy and meeting deadlines
- HSL currently utilizes Kronos for timekeeping and ADP for payroll but will be moving to Workday in early 2025. Previous experience with Workday is highly desired
- Payroll Certification (FPC/CPP preferred)
- Ability to be flexible and to perform multiple tasks in a busy environment
- Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential matters in a professional and positive manner
- Ability to own tasks, analyze payment data including quarter to date and year to date review to ensure plan and calendar year limits are accurate.
