The Payroll Analyst will be responsible for providing administrative and financial assistance in matters of all payroll related activities for a rapidly growing federal prime contractor in Woodbridge, VA. (Role will be onsite 5 days a week for the first 60 days of employment and then hybrid (3 days a week). The ideal candidate must be able to multi-task and meet rigorous deadlines working in a fast-paced environment, show initiative, maintain confidentiality, and work independently.
Reporting directly to the Payroll Lead, the Payroll Analyst works as part of the Payroll team in assisting with the semimonthly payroll process, performing assigned month and year end duties, and all other payroll related tasks as needed. The ideal candidate must have the ability to:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with employees, Human Resources, outside vendors and government entities as well as other internal departments to ensure accurate information in direct support of corporate efforts.
- Positive professional attitude with ability to communicate clearly, timely, and accurately.
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, best payroll practices and demonstrated ability to utilizing systems, tools, and procedures to accomplish the job.
- Firm knowledge of federal and state regulations.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to details are essential.
- Support day to day payroll operations, including reconciliation, generate ad hoc reports and audits between HR/Payroll and Timekeeping systems.
- Manage payroll inbox providing excellent customer service support to employees, department leads and managers and to research and resolve inquires/issues in a timely manner.
- Data entry in HR/Payroll and Timekeeping systems.
- Perform data uploads in Timekeeping system.
- Manage all indirect project assignment requests for training and/or paid leave.
- Process all timesheet corrections for Sev1 and subcontractor employees.
- Assist in researching and resolving all timesheet error messages and subcontractor Purchase Order line assignment errors.
- Research the validity of Missing employee timesheets and work with both Human Resources and/or Supervisors to confirm accuracy.
- Review and verify accuracy of Disapproved and/or Unapproved semimonthly timesheets. Resolve errors and submit all outstanding timesheets for approval and processing.
- Perform daily audits for new hires to verify and compare data between the HR/Payroll and Timekeeping systems.
- Manage termination procedure for all Sev1 employees ensuring final timesheet submission and accurate payment according to applicable state laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Payroll Manager, Controller or CFO.
Required skillset:
- Basic knowledge of Excel, Word, Power point.
- Accounting/Payroll Background with a focus on govt contracts.
- Familiarity with working in multiple information systems. (Workday/Unanet/Deltek/Costpoint).
- Critical Thinking
- Detail oriented
- Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
This position is paid hourly (40 hours) at $26.44 an hour
Minimum Qualifications:- High School Diploma/GED
- Experience in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint) knowledgeable with word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and database software.
Clearance Level: Must be a U.S. Citizen able to obtain a clearance
