About the Job
- Process, review, and balance bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls
- Ensure accurate processing of payroll transactions, including time, earnings, benefits, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and other payroll-related items
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of payroll taxes and rates for various states and localities
- Oversee payroll administration and reconciliations to the General Ledger and other accounts
- Provide timely assistance to employees and managers with payroll-related inquiries, maintaining high customer service standards
- Maintain and update operating procedures manuals and ensure adherence to policies
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to payroll processes to the Division Controller
- Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies through routine analyses and audits
- Handle monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting for multiple states, including reconciliation and payment submissions
- Conduct and report on audits to ensure enrollment accuracy
- Collaborate with the Accounting and Finance departments for quarterly and year-end audits
- Partner with Human Resources on matters related to new hires, terminations, benefit deductions, and assigned payroll policies
- Manage unemployment claims and present benefits overviews to new hires during onboarding
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in full-cycle payroll processing in a multi-state environment with both exempt and non-exempt employees
- Extensive knowledge of wage and hour compliance and payroll tax compliance
- Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail and ability to manage highly confidential information
- Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to generate actionable reports
- Proactive in seeking opportunities to automate payroll and reporting processes
- Creative problem-solving attitude

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
