About Our Client:
Our client is a well-established organization seeking a Payroll Manager to lead payroll functions. This role will also play a key part in an upcoming ERP transition, with potential involvement in implementing a new system (Workday is under consideration).
Job Description:
The Payroll Manager will be responsible for overseeing payroll processing, distribution, and reporting for the organization. They will ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and organizational policies. This position also involves collaboration with HR and Finance, and managing timekeeping systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Operations: Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll, including salaries, benefits, taxes, and deductions.
- Timekeeping Management: Oversee timekeeping systems, train new timekeepers, and review records for approval.
- Special Payment Processing: Handle special payroll requests in line with company policies.
- Compliance & Reporting: Maintain knowledge of payroll regulations and coordinate with external payroll tax services for reporting (IRS 941, state filings, W-2s).
- Collaboration: Partner with Human Resources to ensure consistent interpretation of policies and procedures.
- Employee Training & Support: Provide guidance and training to staff on payroll and related systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of management experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Experience with payroll systems like Kronos and Banner, with potential transition to Workday.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.

- Schedule: On-site 5 days/week, potential for hybrid after 30-90 days based on performance.
