Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-orientated and highly organized Payroll Specialist to join our growing finance team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in multi-state payroll processing and expertise in federal and state payroll regulations. Key Responsibilities:
- Establish/maintain employee records; ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis; review changes for proper authorization
- Process multi-state payroll for hourly and salaried employees in accordance with company policies and state and local regulations
- Process garnishments, expense reimbursements and benefits funding
- Audit payroll for accuracy and compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of payroll tax reports
- Payroll Reconciliations: Perform regular payroll reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Payroll Reporting: Generate and analyze payroll reports, including payroll summaries, wages statements, tax filings, compliance reports, and ad-hoc reports as needed.
- Compliance: Stay up to date with changes in payroll laws and regulations and ensure compliance with all applicable standards.
- System Management & Updates: Maintain and update payroll systems, including employee records and payroll software, to ensure accurate and efficient processing.
- Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in payroll processing or a related role.
- Experience with payroll software, Paycom, preferred.
- Experience with processing wage garnishments.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of payroll laws (federal and multistate) and regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail, data entry and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Payroll Certification is a plus
