?Purpose: The Payroll Specialist will work with various payroll systems, tax regulations, and with sensitive and confidential information on a daily basis. This position works under direction of the Payroll Leader, to ensure timely processing of employee pay information, and compliance on internal processes as well as various state laws and regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Process payroll weekly for hourly employees.
- Assist Payroll Lead with processing bi-weekly payroll for hourly employees.
- Reconciles issues with payroll systems and information.
- Performs weekly and daily audit of incoming information for data integrity.
- Prepares payroll reports from HRIS and timekeeping systems on a regular basis.
- Answers employee questions and investigates issues in a timely manner.
- Follows standard payroll processes and guidelines; complies with various state laws and regulations.
- Provides back-up for other Payroll Specialists as needed.
Knowledge and Experience Requirements:
- 3 years payroll experience
- Process payroll for at least 1000 employees
- Understanding of general payroll practices and laws including benefits/deductions, garnishments, taxation, and reporting.
- High attention to detail; proven strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience creating reports out of an HRIS or high-volume payroll system.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and use of formulas, pivot tables, etc. Also experience with Word, Outlook, and Access programs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work with all different levels of team members and management, and communicate to each using appropriate methods.
- Must be detail oriented and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
