Our client, a growing mid-sized financial services firm based in Manhattan, is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their Finance team
This position is crucial in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for the company’s employees, including both salaried and hourly staff

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$30/hr – $35/hr
Position Overview:
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for administering the company’s payroll processes, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
This Payroll Specialist role involves processing payroll, maintaining payroll records, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and assisting with payroll-related inquiries from employees
The position also requires assisting with monthly and year-end payroll reporting and supporting audits as needed.
Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist:
Process and manage bi-weekly or monthly payroll for employees, ensuring accurate deductions, overtime, benefits, and tax withholdings.
Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and pay adjustments.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax filing requirements.
Collaborate with HR and other departments to resolve payroll-related issues and discrepancies.
Review timesheets and attendance records for accuracy and proper authorization.
Prepare and distribute payroll reports, including earnings statements and tax filings.
Assist with year-end payroll processing, including issuing W-2s and other tax documents.
Respond to payroll-related employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and benefits.
Support audits by providing necessary payroll data and documentation.
Qualifications for the Payroll Specialist:
3+ years of experience in payroll administration or a similar role.
Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel (experience with Workday, Justworks, etc
is a plus).
Strong understanding of payroll regulations, including tax laws and compliance.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Education Requirements:
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field is required.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
