Dobbs Equipment is looking for a Payroll Specialist. This position is responsible for performing payroll in addition to a variety of activities that are typically less routine within the Human Resources area to support the major processes. This is a grounded professional focusing on information and facts to respond to requests for payroll information rather than resolving issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. (Other duties may be assigned)
- Process multi-state bi-weekly payroll for all employees including bonuses, commission, and incentives, make all associated entries and adjustments.
- Acts as a system-wide payroll resource by resolving problems of a non-routine nature and by communicating system-wide payroll procedural changes to campus payroll contacts.
- Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
- Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
- Understand proper taxation of employer-paid benefits.
- Monitors company input to payroll to ensure that accurate data is received in accordance with prescribed timetables.
- Performs routine and non-routine data retrieval, research, analysis, and reporting from the payroll records as requested.
- Keeps informed of governmental and contractual changes that impact the payroll operation and participates in the planning and implementation of programs to effect these changes.
- Responsible for the timecards system for employees.
- Assisting Payroll Manager with all quarterly and yearly Federal and State tax filings and forms.
- Processes court ordered wage garnishments, including child support, student loans, wage assignments, bankruptcy orders, state, and federal tax levies.
- Performs a variety of non-routine activities within Human Resources to support major processes such as compensation and benefits, staffing and employee development, training and development, legal compliance, and employee communications.
- Verify set up of each individual new hire with all the necessary forms, including direct deposit requests, wage verification, I-9 information, and W-4 forms.
- Process relevant employment paperwork in the various systems used by Dobbs.
- Provides information to employees and managers regarding routine questions and issues.
- Gathers and compiles data to support compliance efforts for Payroll and HR.
- Participates in the compensation and benefits process by gathering information, validating deductions and payments to carries, and other activities to support the process.
- Utilizes Human Resources' tools and systems and insurance benefits providers to view and extract data used to respond to requests for information.
Qualification: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Payroll experience
- Benefits experience
Education, Skill, and/or Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma and 4-6 years of payroll experience
- The employee can use the equipment and software required to accomplish the responsibilities of this position. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- ADP Workforce Now experience highly preferred
- Ability to use an HRIS, such as ADP Workforce Now
- Knowledge of all laws and regulations and maintains knowledge through continuing education
