Payroll Specialist - Mission Edge

About the Job
- 7-10 years progressive Payroll experience.
- Working knowledge and understanding of Federal and state payroll and tax laws, wage and hour laws, and employee benefits laws.
- Nonprofit experience strongly preferred.
- Strong experience using Microsoft Office, Google Drives, Gmail and various payroll and HRIS software/ systems such as ADP Run, Paylocity, Paychex, Gusto, Rippling, Paycom and Paycor.
- Enthusiastic team player with a strong commitment to create a positive and engaging work environment.
- Outgoing with ability to provide excellent customer service to staff, clients and payroll providers.
- Strong work ethic and proven clerical skills, including highly organized and detailed-oriented.
- Excellent critical thinker, analytical and problem solver; able to make solid judgments and data-based decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to hold personal, HR related and payroll information strictly confidential.
- Proven ability to function in a multi-tasking environment.

- Experience with Project Management software including Monday.com and or Basecamp is a plus.
- Process payroll and related support, i.e. time off tracking, timesheet review, benefits deductions, retirement plan deductions) etc.
- Collect, verify, and record employee attendance, including hours worked.
- Compute wages, commissions, and deductions, as applicable.
- Compute and process final pay in accordance with state and federal law.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, including remittance of payroll taxes and required withholdings.
- Process and monitor garnishment orders, wage orders or levies.
- Handle employee complaints about incorrect payments and resolve discrepancies.
