About the Job
Position Summary: Responsible for overseeing and participating in the timely and accurate recording and processing of all payroll information.
Reports to: Payroll Specialist Coordinator
Functions & Responsibilities:
- Assists in the processing of all bi-weekly payrolls to ensure accuracy, compliance and the transmission of payroll is completed in a timely manner.
- Assists with the training of employees on the web based time and attendance system for all users.
- Reviews timesheets for accuracy and manager approval, follows up on discrepancies.
- Prepares and exports timesheet data into the payroll system and reconciles all hours for accuracy.
- Prepares and verifies payroll checks for proper distribution.
- Provides excellent customer service on a timely basis for all employees regarding payroll related issues.
- Verifies and processes employee change information received from Human Resources and notifies Human Resources of any discrepancies between the payroll/HR databases.
- Prepares verification of employment wages and worker’s compensation wages as requested.
- Updates and verifies all accruals on an annual basis.
- Participates in the monthly orientation of new employees and instructs employees on the use of Web Time and other payroll related processes as needed.
- Supports and participates in all internal and external audits pertaining to payroll.
- Updates employee elected benefit deductions for monthly insurance invoices.
- Provides back-up coverage for the Payroll Specialist Coordinator as requested.
- Upholds the compliance objectives and policies and procedures of the Foundation and Subsidiaries.
- Performs other related duties of a similar nature and complexity as directed.
Skills and Knowledge:
Education
- High School graduate or GED with post-graduate courses in Business or Accounting.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years computerized payroll experience in a high volume payroll environment.
- Proficiency with Excel and Word.
