This role will report into the Payroll Manager and is responsible for all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization's multi-state payroll processing objectives with a high degree of confidentiality. Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (9:00 am – 6:00 pm)
Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00 an hour (Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience)
Job Overview:
- Prepare and process various payroll cycles (weekly, biweekly, off cycle, monthly) for multiple states.
- Maintains all wage assignment and child support set up, deductions, and payments to various courts, vendors and Expert Pay.
- Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
- Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Work with Payroll Manager to determine payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Maintain employee leave balances, benefit payroll deductions, and garnishments.
- Comply with local, state and federal payroll regulations and respond to questions and special requests from regulatory agencies.
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma; Associate's Degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of payroll processing experience.
- Thorough understanding of payroll processing, procedures, and payroll tax reports.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality of all information.
- Must be able to communicate clearly, both written and orally to employees and management.
- Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities, accuracy in work & detail oriented.
