Job Overview:The Payroll Specialist is accountable for collecting timekeeping information, incorporating a variety of deductions into a periodic payroll, and issuing pay through the computerized payroll system. The incumbent will process manual and electronic timesheets for Union, hourly, and exempt employees.
Hourly Rate: $31.29

Responsibilities:Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Actively work with intra and inter departmental team members to develop and streamline processes for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
- Proactively seek out the knowledge and be familiar with all the diverse payroll and timekeeping aspects of the contract, i.e. union, DBA, SCA, exempt, etc.
- Develop and maintain accurate and complete payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data such as employee hours worked, pay rate changes, and payroll deductions.
- Ensure payroll calculations are correct and in accordance with company policy, contractual obligation, and Federal/State guidelines.
- Ensure that payroll deductions and benefits records are adequately identifiable in the general ledger and that the payments to third parties are processed in an accurate and timely manner. Payroll deductions include: bi-weekly tax payments, child support, 401(k) contributions, health and life reconciliation, short/long-term disability, worker’s compensation and leave.
- Process and post weekly/biweekly employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions by established deadlines.
- Maintain employee files accurately, timely and completely.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Address Employee’s pay-related concerns and provide accurate payroll information.
- Complete requests for pay-related documents including statements and verifications.
- Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Mandatory:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- At least two (2) years of practical experience processing high volume payroll.
- At least two (2) years of practical experience and ability to competently demonstrate the use of standardized payroll software for data entry, processing and inquiry.
- Competent operating office equipment: telephones, copy machines, printers and computers.
- Demonstrate experience and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
- Ability & willingness to work overtime as needed.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
