We are searching for a dynamic, detail-oriented, and experienced Permanent Payroll Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all payroll functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, and maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The role requires a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), payroll systems, and accounting software. The successful candidate will also have a proven track record in multi-state payroll administration and a solid understanding of the ADRA reconciliation system.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage all payroll functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
2. Assist the accounting team with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
3. Maintain payroll-related general ledger accounts and reconcile within the accounting system.
4. Prepare and update payroll policies and procedures, ensuring they align with current laws and best practices.
5. Prepare and file weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reports, including 940, 941, and state tax withholding.
6. Remit and reconcile federal, state, and local government tax payments.
7. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements and tax regulations.
8. Manage and mentor a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications:
1. 6+ years of progressive experience in multi-state payroll administration.
2. Experience with the ADRA reconciliation system.
3. Experience with prevailing wages/certified payroll in a construction or similar environment.
4. Proficiency in JD Edwards, MS Office Programs, accounting software, and payroll systems.
5. Solid understanding of GAAP.
6. 1-2 years of experience managing and mentoring a team.
7. Valid Driver’s License.
8. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field.
9. Experience assisting an accounting team with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
10. Proven ability to maintain payroll-related general ledger accounts and reconcile within an accounting system.
11. Experience preparing and filing weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reports, including 940, 941, and state tax withholding.
12. Proven ability to remit and reconcile federal, state, and local government tax payments.
13. Demonstrated understanding of and compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements and tax regulations.
14. Multi-location payroll years of experience.
