We are seeking an experienced payroll professional to assist, lead, and supervise all activities necessary to process weekly payrolls, perform analytical duties, audit accounts, and facilitate various payroll wage verifications at our Indianapolis, IN location!
Main Responsibilities
- Assist, lead, and supervise all activities necessary to process payrolls weekly, including maintaining related records.
- Coach, guide, and train payroll team members on all payroll related processes.
- Act as the point of contact for any escalated payroll queries.
- Assist in answering questions and solving payroll processing issues.
- Ensure payroll information updates are done correctly and timely.
- Oversee, plan, and administer monthly union benefit payments to correct benefit and union location.
- Perform monthly and yearly audits of union benefit payments for both internal and external auditors.
- File maintenance of all union data files: Review and update union fringes and pay rates, new union setup, reporting requirements.
- Document, develop, analyze, and refine payroll procedures.
- Maintain payroll schedule/deadlines and monitor the workloads of other team assignments.
- Have a clear understanding of payroll tax calculations and company deductions.
- Administer quarterly safety bonuses.
- Produce various financial reports for management team.
- Assist in processing yearly vacation awards, bonus plans, new hire selections, W-2 preparations, tax changes, special projects and team building.
- 4+ years payroll and/or accounting-related experience in a fast-paced, multi-state organization. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Proficient with computer software, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Clear, tactful written and oral communication with all levels of the organization and outside customers as needed.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in handling employees' personal data.
- Great team player with a positive attitude within team and with internal customers.
- Ability to learn various financial and payroll systems and/or Web portals, including in-house payroll software.
- Exceptionally detail oriented with ability to create data-heavy reports, see patterns and find solutions.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university in accounting, finance, business management or related field.
- Working knowledge of AS400 financial system or other payroll processing system.
- Experience in a union environment.
