The Children s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, with the Department of Pediatrics is currently recruiting a Chief of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. The Division Chief provides overall clinical leadership for all components of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM). In addition to the administrative responsibilities of this position, the individual will share in the clinical responsibilities with the 20 full-time faculty, per-diem physicians, as well as 6 Advanced Practice Providers. The successful candidate will be Board Certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine with strong clinical and leadership experience. This leader will be responsible to develop and implement the clinical, educational, academic, research, and advocacy goals of the institution for PEM. He/she will have administrative, academic, and clinical practice management experience within a complex, pediatric tertiary care medical center. We seek individuals with strong emotional and social intelligence and a demonstrated ability to connect with others in a meaningful way at all levels of the organization.
The Pediatric Emergency Division at CHAM is one of the busiest pediatric emergency programs in the Northeast, caring for approximately 60,000 children each year. Our faculty is one of the largest groups of fellowship-trained and sub-board-certified emergency medicine physicians on the East Coast. Our attending physicians are present in the Emergency Department 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Multidisciplinary care is an integral part of PEM at CHAM. We offer a full array of pediatric subspecialty programs, both medical and surgical, offering care to children on the inpatient units as well as in a variety of ambulatory settings. Patients have access to a variety of psychosocial and educational support services, including an extensive Child Life Program and Child Protection Services if needed.
CHAM has the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment to manage infants as small as six pounds up to adolescents extending to 21 years of age and any severity of illness. Our leading-edge clinical pediatric treatment areas include an asthma treatment suite, an axial computed tomography (CT) scanner and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine. All rooms contain state-of-the-art resuscitation technology and a noninvasive digital computer that monitors the patient's heart and respiratory system.
In addition to providing quality care to our patients, PEM is engaged in a variety of investigative research projects. From pediatric pain management to limiting radiation exposure with point-of-care ultrasounds, our specialists focus on creating therapies that offer the best treatment for our patients. We follow the latest evidence-based guidelines for asthma management and care, and we have standardized care for fever in newborns and created innovative techniques for pain reduction management in children.
