Presbyterian Medical Group seeks a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join our established Pediatric Gastroenterology (GI) practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Summary

The pediatric GI Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) serves as a clinical resource and an independent provider assisting the pediatric gastroenterology service in three ways: 1) Serving as the primary educational resources for patients and families. 2) Assisting the pediatric gastroenterologists with inpatient consults and rounds. 3) Assisting the pediatric gastroentrologists with care visits in clinic.

Responsibilities
*Completes a comprehensive health assessment including an appropriate health history (chief complaint, history of present illness, past medical history, family history, social history, review of systems, and pain history) and physical exam on newborns and pediatric patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
*Determines the need for and interprets the results of relevant screening and diagnostic tests.
*Demonstrates sound clinical judgment and diagnostic reasoning abilities to formulate a diagnosis by critically analyzing history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests.
*Modifies assessment techniques according to patients condition, culture, age, and stage of development.
*Effectively communicates health findings and/or the diagnosis of a health condition to the patient, discusses the prognosis and options for treatment for the condition, and then establishes a mutually acceptable plan of care with the patient.
*Manages acute and chronic health conditions by providing effective pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions; assists patients in following the plan of treatment, and selects the appropriate best practice treatment.
*Prepares written prescription orders, medications, and controlled substances under the rules and regulations of the State of NM and the Federal DEA.
*In conjunction with the pediatric gastroenterologists, Initiates timely and appropriate consultation, referral or collaboration with other healthcare providers and/or members of the health care team.
*Determines the need for and implements health promotion strategies for patients considering specific age and cultural requirements in accordance with population health principles to reduce risk factors and prevent disease.
*Demonstrates good interpersonal communication skills for patients of various ages and cultures, and also has the ability to develop appropriate and professional rapport with patients, families, and other healthcare team members.
*Maintains patient medical records as required by hospital and regulatory agencies.
*Maintains PALS certification and the skills needed to effectively participate as a team member in a code to resuscitate a pediatric patient.
*Maintains credentialing in the performance of procedures
*Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Masters Degree
- NM Certified Nurse Pracitioner (CNP) or PA-C License (PNP Preferred)

For Nurse Practitioner - Masters degree in Nursing, New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license, federal and state DEA license and AANPCB certification required.

For Physician Assistant - Baccalaureate prepared CAHEA Certified Physician Assistant or two (2) years working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant, and licensed by the New
Mexico Board of Medical Examiners required.
