Job Summary:
We are seeking a full-time pediatric psychologist at La Rabida Children’s Hospital in Chicago, IL with a 4 day work week Monday to Thursday 9am to 7:30pm. The psychologist in this position will work in our integrated outpatient specialty medical clinics as well as provide outpatient therapy and inpatient assessment and support. Essential Pediatric Psychologist Functions:
- Provides behavioral health services to patients and their families, predominately in integrated care within specialty medical clinics, inpatient admissions, and outpatient appointments.
- Provides behavioral health consultation services during specialty care clinics
- Provides short and long term outpatient behavioral health care to patients with comorbid medical conditions. May provide psychological testing.
- Provides coverage of inpatient behavioral health inpatient consultation; liaison for rehab and complex medical patients, including long term care evaluations.
- Provides care for patients with presenting symptoms such as behavioral problems, school and learning problems, trauma exposure and symptomology, attention problems, anxiety, depression, medical adherence as well as others.
- Has training in and can implement behavioral health interventions such as individual psychotherapy, behavior modification techniques, family therapy, group therapy and crisis intervention.
- Conducts clinical evaluations, employing scales and measures as clinically indicated, and diagnoses conditions using DSM 5/ICD 10.
- Compose treatment plans and formulate reports based on assessments.
- Consults and collaborates with the multidisciplinary health care team to ensure psychological services are integrated into patient’s treatment. Makes recommendations on integrated care program development.
- May develop and implement specific diagnostic programs and/or treatment programs (“clinics”) for specific patient populations (e.g., incontinence, pain management).
- Takes an active role in new program development to provide innovative care to children served by La Rabida Children’s Hospital
- May be involved in education and training programs for other students and staff members, both inside and outside of the Division of Behavioral Health.
- Conducts in-service training and educational seminars for hospital staff, parents and/or community agencies as required.
- A minimum of 50% of work must be in direct patient/family contact.
What we need from you:
- Psy.D or Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology required.
- APA-accredited internship in child or pediatric psychology and must have training/experience in pediatric health psychology required.
- Experience working with children on a multidisciplinary medical team, a pediatric psychology fellowship, training in neuropsychological assessment, experience with trauma informed care, chronically ill children, supervisory experience and a strong research background are highly desirable.
- Current Illinois Registration/licensure in Clinical Psychology or eligible and able to attain within 90 days of hire.
- CPR required: Only certifications issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross will be accepted.
