We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Permanent Pedigree Farm Technician to join our dynamic team in the manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operations of our pedigree farm, ensuring the health and well-being of our livestock, and maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the daily operations of the pedigree farm, ensuring the welfare of the livestock and adherence to all relevant regulations and standards.
2. Monitor the health and well-being of our pedigree livestock, promptly identifying and addressing any issues.
3. Maintain accurate records of livestock, including pedigree details, health checks, and any treatments administered.
4. Assist in the breeding and raising of pedigree livestock, ensuring the highest possible standards of animal welfare at all times.
5. Coordinate with the team to manage feeding schedules, cleaning routines, and other daily tasks.
6. Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency.
7. Collaborate with the veterinary staff to administer vaccinations, treat illnesses, and manage any other health-related issues.
8. Participate in the selection and purchasing of new livestock, ensuring they meet our pedigree standards.
9. Conduct regular inspections of the farm facilities, identifying and addressing any potential issues.
10. Provide training and guidance to junior staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within the manufacturing industry.
2. A valid driver’s license is required, due to the need to operate farm machinery and potentially transport livestock.
3. Certification as a Poultry Technician is essential, with experience in other types of livestock being a significant advantage.
4. Excellent knowledge of animal husbandry, including breeding, feeding, and health management.
5. Strong observational skills, with the ability to promptly identify and address any issues with livestock health or welfare.
6. Good physical fitness, as the role involves manual labor and the handling of livestock.
7. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to lead and train junior staff.
8. Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues.
9. A commitment to animal welfare and adherence to all relevant regulations and standards.
10. The ability to maintain accurate records and manage a busy workload effectively.
