Job Description
The Wellspring Post Arrest Diversion (PAD) Team supports adults with serious mental illnesses who are involved with the justice system and have been recently incarcerated or are at imminent risk for being incarcerated.
The PAD Peer Specialist participates in regular team meetings and works in partnership with the PAD Case Manager, Clinician, and Program Manager. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the PAD Peer Specialist will assist clients with the coordination of court dates and collaborate with the Office of Probation and Parole and HIP. The PAD Peer Specialist also assists clients in gaining access to medical, social, educational, housing, addiction treatment, and other resources ensuring uninterrupted provision of all services. The PAD Peer Specialist completes electronic documentation of services demonstrating medical necessity within 24 hours of client contact.
Special Skills and Requirements:
The PAD Peer Specialist will identify as a mental health consumer and must be willing to share their personal experience of recovery and support others in need. The PAD Peer Specialist will have a belief in recovery from mental illness and an enthusiasm for helping persons with disabilities, rooted in empathy and compassion, demonstrating a careful and caring attitude.
Candidates must be willing to share their personal experience of recovery and support others in need. The ideal candidate will have experience providing peer support, working with clients with serious mental illness and substance use disorders, and those involved in the justice system is preferred.
A valid driver's license and personal vehicle are essential for this position as the PAD Peer Specialist will be responsible for traveling between work sites and transporting clients to regular appointments.
A high school degree or equivalent is required.
The candidate will already hold an Adult Peer Support Certification and be certified by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
