About the Job
The Parenting Center at the 92nd Street Y has positions available for part-time, per diem staff members to teach independently and in teams. The Parenting Center runs classes for children, parents and caregivers. Based on interest and expertise, teachers can lead and support in the delivery of play-based classes for children 2.5 years and younger. Our programs include play groups, separation classes (full-year, drop-off programs) and talks for expecting and new parents.
Job Responsibilities Include:- Planning and implementing age-appropriate activities.
- Promoting social-emotional development, helping children develop social skills, explore interests, and experience success.
- Ensuring the classroom is a safe and organized environment.
- Working with other teachers to plan, set up and clean up classroom.
- Communicate with parents and caregivers on child’s progress, regular classroom updates.
- Post photos and newsletters on Brightwheel app used for classroom communication.
- Attend weekly meetings with other staff members to collaborate and plan curriculum.
- Work with adults, parents, grandparents and caregivers to create a warm community atmosphere.
- Welcome patrons and represent the greater 92NY institution.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge in early childhood or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience in planning, coordinating and running a classroom preferred.
- Proactive self-starter with the ability to work effectively both individually and in a team setting.
- Experience and interest in early childhood education preferred.
Weekly hours range depending on programming.

Compensation Range
$25 - $60/hour
The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
