About the Job
Our client, a retail chain of home improvement and agriculture stores, is seeking a Performance Test Engineer for a 2+ month contract position. This role is fully remote but candidate must work central time zone hours.
This position is responsible for developing, executing and supporting tests of internally developed and externally integrated software applications and administrative software applications to meet the requirements set forth in specification documents. This requires comprehensive knowledge of SDLC with demonstrated comprehensive QA skills, including writing test plan and test cases in support of software and hardware solutions as well as advanced skills in HP Quality Center/Application Lifecycle Management. Additional responsibilities include technical leadership, monitoring other team members, and leading projects.
Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
- Works with business stakeholders to understand business requirement and needs. (5%)
- Participates in SDLC activities, such as design sessions and prototype review meetings. (5%)
- Review / Approve test plans, test cases and test scripts. Holds review sessions with the team and stakeholders. (10%)
- Provides test effort estimates. (5%)
- Help team with test data, executes tests and reports on test results as per the test plans. (10%)
- Works with both internal and external teams to identify opportunities for improvement. (10%)
- Provides technical leadership, mentors other team members, and leads projects. (10%)
- Supervises and directs work of individuals within the team. (15%)
- Hires, develops, and motivates assigned staff. (10%)
- Liaison with business users and other IT teams. (10%)
- Participates and makes recommendations on the direction of Performance team. (10%)
- May perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of Load Testing Experience including Performance, Stress, Endurance, and HA Failover testing experience within a software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodology.
- Managing multiple project efforts to completion.
- Preferred experience in the following areas:
- Retail, POS and WMS applications testing experience
- ERP solutions such as SAP
- SaaS application testing

- Superior skills with high level of proficiency in extracting requirements, planning test strategy, writing test cases and test execution.
- Program methodologies and scripting
- Comprehensive knowledge and skills with load testing software such as Load Runner, Silk Performer, and preferably Akamai Cloud Test.
- Superior understanding in relational databases & SQL.
- Demonstrated collaboration skills with the ability to handle conflict and to work with a distributed team.
- Infrastructure knowledge such as networks, Firewalls, application servers, and Databases.
- Superior communication skills, both written and oral.
- Superior critical thinking skills with the ability to move beyond proven problem-solving approaches to formulate solutions.
