Schedules all surgical and perioperative procedures. Prints daily OR and Endoscopy schedules; notifies surgeons and GI physicians or scheduled times. Completes charge and billing tasks to assure accurate and timely billing.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 1 years of office experience preferred
COMPETENCIES:
- A basic level of skill in the use of Microsoft Windows-based WORD, EXCEL and OUTLOOK software programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication with co-workers and patients using the English language to communicate appropriately and clearly to team leader, co-workers and other members of the health care team.
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
- The ability to function effectively in different environments and situations.

- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and promotes positive patient outcomes.
- Receives procedure bookings via phone or fax; schedules procedure in O.R. scheduling system for surgical, perioperative and/or G.I. procedures for MMH and/or RGH. Prepares and directs distribution of daily schedules.
- Appropriately identifies and works to resolve scheduling conflicts, escalating to Clinical Manager or Team Leader when necessary.
- Meets, greets, and directs all patients, families, visitors and health care team members if applicable to area while providing accurate information.
- Answer telephones in a polite manner and appropriately communicate information to the appropriate personnel/family/healthcare team member.
- Completes the O.R. portion of the Materials Management department processing for perioperative services item acquisition and supply management.
- Checks clinical documentation to determine if charging for the procedure, supplies, implants, recovery and any other associated charges are documented correctly.
- Completes HSM charge entry and Meditech BAR entry and postings.
- Assists with denials, wrong account numbers, charge discrepancies and other issues from other departments (including, but not limited to HIM, Patient Access, Finance) promptly.
- Other duties as assigned to promote operational efficiency in the units.
- May be required to float to different patient care units within surgical services.
