This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. As a Certified Personal Trainer, your goal is to assist health seekers improve personal fitness through safe and effective exercises.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enhances YMCA membership by demonstrating the Y core values while establishing safe, effective individual fitness plans for health seekers.
- Develops safe and effective exercise programs based upon client goals, incorporating cardio respiratory, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, agility, balance and coordination exercises into the program.
- Maintains knowledge of science-based exercise trends and incorporates new techniques safely into exercise programs.
- Works within scope of practice.
- Is knowledgeable of and promotes YMCA virtual and on site programs to members.
- Wears appropriate and approved fitness attire, therefore being easily identifiable by members; a Y name tag and Y staff shirt is provided.
- Applies YYMCA policy/procedures for emergency situations, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Serves as a role model for other staff members by demonstrating exemplary job skills and behavior.
- Attends required staff meetings, educational workshops and certifications.
- Maintains certification by attending CEC classes and submitting required updated paperwork to the YMCA of the USA and the Association.
- Completes additional duties as assigned by the Wellness Coordinator/Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- At least 18 years of age
- CPR/AED certification
- Personal Training certification from a national organization (ACSM, ACE, etc) or degree or certification from a technical institute or college
- Complete the following within 1 month of hire:
- Living Our Cause
- Cause Driven Tour
- Orientation to Healthy Living at the Y
- Wellness Center at the Y training
- Complete the following within 3 months of hire:
- Foundations of Listen First
- Principles of Member Health and Wellness
- Foundations of Strength and Conditioning
- Has the ability to work with a variety of populations such as athletes, older adults, cardiac rehab patients, teens, etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Ability to instruct and observe health seekers with proper form and technique.
- Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force regularly and 45 pounds of force occasionally.
- Ability to Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift grasp, talk, make repetitive motions, see and hear.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current CPR/ AED certification
- Hold a current Personal Training certification from national organization (ACSM, ACE, etc) or degree or certification from a technical institute or college
- Personal Training experience from 0 - 2 years
- High School diploma
- Continue with CECs to keep certification current
