As a Personal Trainer at the YMCA of the North Shore, you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional experiences for our members and program participants. In our state-of-the-art facility, you will customize workouts to meet the unique needs of each client, providing hands-on instruction and guidance. Your daily responsibilities will include engaging with members on the fitness floor through exercise demonstrations and machine overviews, suggesting personalized workouts, offering complimentary sessions, and promptly responding to members who need assistance. You'll meet regularly with clients, recommending adaptations and modifications to ensure their progress aligns with their individual abilities. Additionally, you will welcome everyone who enters the fitness center, address inquiries, and help maintain the cleanliness and functionality of our equipment.
To excel in this role, you should have proven experience in personal training or exercise instruction, with the ability to connect with a diverse range of individuals. A strong understanding of health and fitness principles, strength training components, and various fitness machines is essential. The ideal candidate will value client assessment and evaluation, recognizing the importance of developing personalized training plans tailored to individual goals.

Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in physical education or related field preferred
- Certification from a nationally recognized agency such as ACE, AFFA, ASCM, NSCA, and NSPA preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading classes and activities, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting
- Must be able to lift 45-pound weight plates
- Must be able to work outside when weather permits
- Must be able to stand for long periods
- Ability to listen, hear, and discern members & program participants' wants, needs, and interests
- Ability to respond to safety and emergencies
- Ability to demonstrate equipment used for exercise training
