Responsibilities
Perform routine and advanced positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) procedures for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury.
+ Screen patient before the procedure for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination. Explain and prepare patients for PET/CT procedures that will be performed.
+ Adjust scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques as appropriate.
+ Perform and record daily quality control procedures on specified equipment to ensure correct and accurate operation.
+ Maintain compassionate patient care, comfort and safety, while ensuring patient confidentiality.
+ Assess, prepare, record and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or state regulations and departmental policies.
+ Perform daily and weekly departmental surveys to ensure compliance of radiation standards of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or state regulations.
+ Travel to various medical facilities on a mobile route.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
+ BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
+ Drivers License obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
+ Radiologic Technologist specializing in General Practice credentialed from the Texas Medical Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
+ One or more of the following required:
+ Nuclear Medical Tech credentialed from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
+ Radiologic Technologist specializing in Nuclear Medicine credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
+ High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
