Required Education and Experience High school graduate with a minimum of 3 years effective management experience. Knowledge of Clinic operations, health insurance billing, and patient collection procedures. Must have demonstrated skills in planning work activities and working with and through other people. Ability to create effective spreadsheets and graphs to analyze data trends to make appropriate management decisions. Ability to prepare and make formal presentations to small groups. Demonstrates tact handling situations with personnel. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to assess a situation and decide on the best course of action. Has excellent communication skills, oral and written. Professional appearance and manner.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications Displays creativity and resourcefulness in problem solving. Able to lead group discussion and department meetings.
Essential Functions
Manages the Insurance Verification, Special Billing, and Document Imaging departments. Note: Special Billing includes the Refund department. Coordinates and supervises the performance of personnel to ensure consistent workflow.
Develops and maintains department standards related to workflow productivity and efficiency. Monitors department performance utilizing productivity information available in the practice management system, phone system, etc. Addresses issues with staff when work quality and productivity are not at the department standard.
Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure efficient, high-quality workflows. Responsible for staff training. Reviews processes for operational enhancements as well as ensuring new information is relayed to the appropriate staff.
Serves at the department liaison for the document imaging system and acts as PFS project lead during upgrades and maintenance of the document imaging system. Interfaces with vendors and the Clinic’s internal departments as necessary.
Exercises good judgment in decision-making. Addresses employee and patient issues effectively.
Approves requests for time off assuming the operation is at all times properly staffed to service patients. Ensures optimal use or resources, including temporary help and cross-utilization of personnel and overtime.
Responsible for reviewing and selecting applicants, performs all interview and completes hiring process for all open positions within assigned departments. Completes annual evaluations for staff.
Communicates to Assistant Director relevant information including recommendations for improvement.
Expands job-related knowledge and skills to improve Department performance. Maintains a working knowledge of relevant health care issues, laws, and regulations
