Position Summary:
11147 Pharmacy Technician Drug Diversion Prevention
Under the direction of the Pharmacy Director, will provide leadership, oversight, and coordination of activities related to diversion prevention monitoring procedures and practices. The Drug Diversion Prevention Technician will be responsible for maintenance of a comprehensive controlled substance surveillance program based on regulatory body requirements including, but not limited to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and best practices. The Drug Diversion Prevention Technician will also help create and execute a comprehensive auditing program for controlled substances. The position requires extensive contact with administration, the nursing department and hospital staff. The Drug Diversion Prevention Technician participates in standards of practice, ensures quality and patient safety regarding medication management and process improvement activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holidays to insure continuity of care and appropriateness of pharmacy coverage to the patients of Sovah Health Martinsville on all units.
Certifications/Licenses:
Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy required
Three (3) years hospital pharmacy experience required.
