Actual compensation offered will vary based on factors including applicable licenses, certifications, education, experience, location, qualifications and comparison with associates in similar roles.
Required:
Completion of a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency (or equivalent experience)
3 years of experience in area of emergency medicine specialty practice with familiarity of Institutional Pharmacy services, and the management of Pharmacokinetic services in an Acute Care institution.
Highly Desired:
Successful completion of PGY-2 in EMERGENCY MEDICINE or CRITICAL CARE
Board Certified Emergency Medicine Pharmacy (BCEMP), Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacy (BCCCP), or Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) certification
What You Will Do:Assure the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders in specialized areas, such as nuclear medicine, oncology, cardiology. Serve as a subject matter expert in pharmacy discipline and provide guidance across pharmacies and to clinical leadership.
- Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug related problems.
- Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.
- Compound and dispense medications for accurate delivery to patients.
- Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
- Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.
- Oversee technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies.
- Assist with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students.
- May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs.
- Provide patient counseling when required.
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- Pharmacist credentialed from the Maryland Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.
- Required: Graduate of an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program.
- Required: Active Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
