II. OVERVIEW:
This description is intended to outline the primary responsibilities, general nature and level of work being performed by teammates assigned to this position. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and competencies of the Pharmacist / Pharmacist ( In Charge ). The incumbent may be assigned other duties and responsibilities.
III. JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for achieving budgeted financial and operating results for an assigned Pharmacy. Maximizes pharmacy sales and profitability by ensuring the execution of promotional and merchandising programs in accordance with Lowe's policies and procedures. Developers a pharmacy team to ensure consistent execution of standard practices and other policies and procedures. Serves as a model for customer service and other vital behaviors, and instills this value in all teammates. Creates an environment for continual learning and encourages an open dialogue among teammates. Provides leadership and motivation within the pharmacy to promote a culture reflective of Lowe's guiding principles, core values, and vision.

Frequent contact with all teammates, customers, corporate office and vendors. Occasional contact with teammates from other locations.
V. JOB DUTIES:
- Review and evaluate pharmacy quality processes and aggressively works to maintain and exceed quality standards.
- Review financial and operating results to determine where the pharmacy stands relative to budgeted sales, expenses, and payroll.
- Follow policies and procedures for the safe procurement, storage, distribution, use and disposal of drugs and biologicals in accordance with Federal and State regulations.
- Train, supervise, motivate, counsel and evaluate Pharmacy teammates.
- Ensures compliance with Company policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of pharmacy laws and federal and state regulations concerning long-term care.
-Assess staffing needs; interviews and hires pharmaacy teammates and ensures pharmacy teammates are able to identify and hire qualified candidates to meet the staffing needs; coordinates with the CEO/pharmacy director.
-Terminates poor performing teammates when required.
-Participate in educational and professional programs and/or review professional literature on an ongoing basis to maintain knowledge and competency in current and developing techniques, professional standards, and the services offered by Lowe's.
-Performs pharmaceutical patient assessment (initial and reassessments). Create and execute plans to manage the pharmaceutical care of home care patients according to Lowe's policy.
-Assist in resolving patient equipment problems under emergency conditions.
-Assemble, troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
-Assume on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with Lowe's policy.
-Monitor pharmaceutical supply levels and place appropriate orders as approved by Lowe's Pharmacy Director.
-Develop technical knowledge of the products/services provided by Lowe's and be able to provide information of same to others upon request.
-Develop plans to manage the patient's pharmaceutical care and executes the care plan.
-Pharmaceutical services related to the preparation and dispensing of drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies to patients at home.
-Maintain rapport with ordering physicians. Inform the physicians and pertinent others of the changes in the patient's condition/status. Promote rational drug therapy to physicians.
- Communicate and coordinate with other Pharmacy Director to provide feedback.
- Minimize all expenses without compromising conditions or customer service level by reviewing and monitoring payroll expenses, pilferage, shoplifting, and vandalism and product shrinkage due to damage.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical care practices for adult and geriatric patients.
- Check each prescription for patient allergies and drug interactions.
- Monitor and update all patient information maintained on computer ( prescriptions, Profiles, and other patient information).
- Submit all Third Party Insurance claims ( Medicaid, Paid, PCS, etc ).
- Supervise staff Pharmacist, Pharmacy clerks, and Pharmacy Technician and trainees.
- Review all medications for out-of-date or expired status. Record and return all out-of-date or expired drugs.
- Communicate and enforce HIPAA and OBRA guidelines properly and thoroughly.
- Ultimate responsibility for informing, training and motivating teammates and to implement disciplinary actions when required to correct behavior that involves policy violations or actions that have an adverse effect on the pharmacy operating performance or may potentially have such effects on the store or its affiliations.
- Keep work area maintained appropriately to ensure a safe work environment for teammates and customers.
- Must be able to perform other duties.
- Prepare and prepack all medications, unit doses, etc. for nursing homes.
- Processes Workers Compensation paperwork.
- Conduct proper disposal of Non-Returnable or Non-Useable medicines.
- Adhere to all compliance of company policies, programs, procedures and guidelines.
- Work with teammates to identify the root causes of issues and inefficiencies.
- Constantly interacts with teammates to ensure that all teammates understands Lowe's expectations.
VI. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Training and Experience:
- Minimum of two years experience in retail or Long-term Pharmacy. Minimum of one year experience in a management role.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
- Possess good customer relations skills. Must be able to read and understand income statements. Must posses above average math skills. Must have good communication and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret and understand the English language. Ability to manage effectively.
Licenses, Registration and Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited Scholl of Pharmacy or Pharmacy Doctorate. Current licensure in the state of practice.
VII. WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Works in a well lit, well ventilated area. Subject to communicable disease.
VIII. COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Pharmacist Competency.
IX. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Light work- exerting 25-50 pounds of force occasionally, and 10-20 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 15 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to operate office machinery and Pharmacy equipment. Must posses good audio, visual and hearing acuity. Requires walking and/ or standing up to a significant degree. Must be able to climb, stand, bend, push or pull, twist, grasp, squeeze, stoop, kneel, squat, reach, handle, finger and feel. Subject to psychological stress.
