Job Summary and Qualifications

TriStar Health and Maury Regional are proud to partner in the development of a new mental health hospital in Columbia, TN. Pinewood Springs opened in early 2020 to serve the mental health needs of adult patients across Middle Tennessee. This facility offers a broad range of services to treat patients with mood, thought, and co-occurring disorders within a supportive and therapeutic environment. The facility it provides dynamic inpatient care with additional outpatient programming (i.e., partial hospitalization program, intensive outpatient program).

Work schedule will include days with rotating evenings/weekend call coverage.

The clinical pharmacist is responsible for the safe, appropriate, evidence-based, and cost-effective selection, utilization, and monitoring of medications for our patients. The clinical pharmacist will utilize advanced knowledge, skills, and professional judgment in all aspects of their work. The clinical pharmacist will serve as a patient advocate when planning and implementing pharmaceutical care within a multidisciplinary rounding team and will collaborate with other healthcare professionals in a knowledgeable and professional manner.

  · Ensures safe, appropriate, evidence-based, and cost-effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures, and protocols

  · Monitors medication therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, drug-laboratory test interactions, allergies, appropriateness of drug and dose, indications and therapeutic duplications

  · Represents the pharmacy department during interdisciplinary rounds and meetings. Engages in a professional and highly communicative capacity with all members of the healthcare team

  · Provision and facilitation of medication education therapy groups to patients in both inpatient and outpatient areas. Provision of education to the interdisciplinary team as needed.

  · Prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician order in a safe and accurate manner according to established policies, procedures, and protocols

  · Verifies Computerized Physician Order Entry orders for accuracy and appropriateness. Intervenes when orders are unclear or potentially unsafe or inappropriate

  · Interprets medication orders (verbal and written) and transcribes to computerized patient medication profiles accurately. Follows facility practices and procedures for documentation in the patient’s medical record

  · Issues controlled substances to patient care areas and maintains records as required by law. Follows corporate policies and procedures related to the dispensing and monitoring of controlled substances

What qualifications you will need:

• Doctorate Degree
• Pharmacist, or Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD)
