We are seeking motivated Pharmacy Interns to join our team and gain hands-on experience under the guidance of licensed pharmacists. As an entry-level professional, you will participate in various pharmacy tasks, from assisting customers with their medication needs to performing essential clerical and operational duties. This is an excellent opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to the pharmacy's daily operations.
This intern position would be on-site at the pharmacy in Huntington, West Virginia. The hours would be Saturdays 9 AM-1 PM and if interested, additional hours would be available during pharmacy operational hours Monday through Friday between 8:30-5 PM (as your schedule allows).
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in filling prescriptions, verifying accuracy, and clarifying orders with physicians.
- Answer customer questions about medications and provide top-tier customer service via phone, email, or in person.
- Support in maintaining medication records, checking for drug interactions, and processing payments for filled prescriptions.
- Help prepare medications by counting tablets, measuring ingredients, and other preparation tasks.
- Learn about new medications, including changes to existing ones, and ensure patients receive appropriate vaccinations based on their medical history.
- Manage inventory by stocking shelves, organizing inventory, and ensuring supplies are in order.
- Perform operational and clerical tasks, such as filing patient records, processing insurance claims, and computer order entry.
- Administer vaccinations when required, ensuring compliance with the West Virginia Immunization Registry.
- Other duties as assigned by the Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC) or supervising pharmacist.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy.
Qualifications & Key Competencies:
- Must be registered with the West Virginia Board of Pharmacy.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and customer service focus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of pharmacy software.
