About the Job
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in Pharmacy or PharmD Degree from an accredited educational institution
- Current pharmacist licensure in the state of Florida
- Current Immunization Certification or ability to obtain certification within 180 days of hire
- Current consultant pharmacist licensure in the state of Florida or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire
- Minimum of 3 years or retail pharmacy experience
- Experience performing prescription dispensing activities and strong working knowledge of applicable state and federal laws
- Experience with EnterpriseRx POS system strongly preferred
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrates attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:
- Responsible for fulfilling prescription department manager requirements, upholding the Board of Pharmacy, state, and federal law, ensuring all pharmacy personnel complies with all requirements of federal and state pharmacy and drug laws, rules, and regulations and providing direction and supervision of pharmacy technicians, interns, and pharmacists
Customer Experience
- Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Monitors customer service provided by team members and offers reminders, training, and encouragement, and develops plans for improvement.
- Develops strong relationships with patients by anticipating patient needs and proactively offering services. Enhances customer experience by increasing focus on healthcare services to improve health outcomes and quality of life
Operations
- Perform all requirements and responsibilities of a Staff Pharmacist
- Upholds the compliance and state licensure requirements as mandated by state legislation and the Board of Pharmacy. Ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance with all regulations, company policies, and standards.
- Establish and maintain adequate inventory of prescription and over the counter medications
- Prepare for perform, and lead physical inventories
- Accountable for safe medication storage, diversion monitoring and other key pharmacy inventory activities
- Maintains a strict control over the distribution and usage of controlled substances, including necessary documentation.
- Adhere to FHCP policies and procedures in relation to quarantine, storage, destruction, and return of expired or damaged medication
- Immediately reports prescription errors and adheres to FHCP policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the CQI Program
- Partner with Pharmacy Administration to implement new programs and carry out corporate, and departmental goals and objectives
- Responsible for analyzing performance indicators including but not limited to customer service and inventory data
- Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers
- Develops and maintains good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers.
- Collaborates and builds strategic partnerships that result in win-win results
- Adheres to company safety and hazardous materials policies.
- Consultant of record to a Modified Class II B Institutional Pharmacy permit upholding Board of Pharmacy, state, and federal laws including but not limited to monthly on-site inspections
- Participate in quarterly Pharmacy Services Committee meetings
People and Performance Management
- Supervises Staff Pharmacists in execution of core pharmacist duties, including but not limited to patient care, provision of healthcare services (i.e., immunizations) collaboration with medical providers’ offices, and inventory management
- Makes hiring and performance management decisions. Address issues and disciplines store team members, engages with the Pharmacy Services and Human Resources Department as appropriate
- Develops employee performance improvement plans and follows up according to deadlines
- Promotes teamwork and motivates team members by establishing expectations, tracking results, showing enthusiasm, and sharing vision
- Ensures compliance with all company policies, applicable employment laws, and is consistently fair in the treatment of all team members
- Communicates regularly with team members through one-on-one discussions, group meetings, soliciting input, answering questions, and ensuring communication lines are open between management and non-management team members
Training and Personal Development
- Maintains and enhances current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy related journals, company publications, and communications. Maintains awareness of developments in pharmacy care and pursues best practices that would enhance performance and health outcomes through proper execution of standard operating procedures. Stays up to date on state/federal law and policy changes.
- Completion of continuing education credits as mandated by the Florida Board of Pharmacy
- Seeks professional development by monitoring one’s performance and solicits constructive feedback
