POSITION SUMMARY:
Possessing an advanced knowledge of pharmacy system and operational practice and infrastructure, the pharmacy operations technician manages the software and hardware peripheral functions of the outpatient pharmacy service group locations. While interacting with various professional levels within the department, operation technicians are expected to ensure all day-to-day functions are operating in an efficient manner, including but not limited to automation devices, pharmacy management systems, database structures and associated hardware. Operation technicians also assist in continuous quality improvement initiatives set forth by leadership.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Ground Support:
- Responds to hardware/software issues that occur onsite, providing causal analysis.
- Directly or indirectly provides resolutions coordinating with IT bodies when appropriate.
Resource Management:
- Provides role based access to pharmacy management system.
- Allocates consumables, procures new and replacement equipment for sites.
Auxiliary Services:
- Performs data analysis, reporting and system audits.
- Coordinates vendor related maintenance/upgrades of automation devices, hardware, and software.
- Document maintenance.
- Assists in equipment installs/transfers/disposals.
Project Support:
- Works to assist with product testing, quality assurance and product/service implementations related to pharmacy operation projects.
- Develops technical writings; providing staff education and competency evaluation.
Quality Control:
- Either through managers or directly, provides remedial training to affected personnel on processes in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and standards.
- Assists management teams in the evaluation of staff on work performance competencies, e.g. prescription order entry/filling, pharmacy support operating systems, automation, refill calls, return-to-stocks, inventory, etc., and any other site specific tasks. Provides input on technician annual performance reviews.
Training Assistance:
- Liaise with vendors to acquire technical and logistical knowledge to ensure understanding and best practices of service.
- Develops training materials, assessments, records of participation and surveys.
- Set up and delivery of scheduled training in-person, remotely or via learning management software

- Provides high level of client service in relation to all activities utilizing AIDET skills.
- Connects on a regular basis with multiple locations to maintain reliable, effective and operation-centered services.
- Develops relationships with pharmacy teams and vendors working as a liaison between the two entities that benefits and improves service levels.
- Serves as pharmacy's first point of contact when engaging with vendors directly.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associates degree or higher in science preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the MA Board of Pharmacy - required.
- National certification (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or the Exam for Certified Pharmacy Technicians - required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Requires a minimum of four years of related experience, including two years as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Will accept degree in lieu of experience.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, technical acumen, and communicative virtuosity is needed.
- Must have a strong understanding pharmacy related domains and STEM fields.
- Exhibits high performance levels in the related fields.
- Must maintain competency in all areas of outpatient pharmacy.
- Must be proficient with computers, including hardware software and peripherals.
