Job Summary and Qualifications
As the Pharmacy Technician Specialist – IV Room, you will be responsible foraccurately performing all advanced and basic pharmacy technician functions in a timely manner. In addition, you will be responsible forassisting the pharmacist with labeling and preparing medications and mixing IV admixture solutions.
What you will do in this role:
You will prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile products accurately.
You will prepares all daily work records and efficiently processes these reports before medications are dispensed to the patient care areas
You will provide quality reports to the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Manager utilizing compounding safety software; working with compounders to meet acceptable bypass or error rates.
You will ensures that all compounding supplies inventory levels are adequately stocked; working with the Pharmacy Buyer on strategy when shortages arise.
You will perform routine inspection of all drug storage locations to ensure storage and security compliance.
You will assist the pharmacy buyer with annual inventory preparation and the pharmacist with clinical reviews, as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:
High School Diploma or GED is required, Associate or Bachelor degree is preferred
3+ years of hospital experience is required.
1+ year sterile preparation compounding experience is required.
National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) is required.
I.V. Room Certification Required
Active Registered pharmacy technician, as per State requirements, in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy is required.
American Society of Health-System Pharmacist (ASHP) Sterile Product Preparation Institutional Training Certificate Program or similar is required.
