Job DescriptionCompass Government Solutions is seeking a Pharmacy Technician/Concierge with customer service experience in Fairfax, VA. This position assists patients by providing customer service, pharmacy support and a variety of receptionist and other clerical duties in support of patient care and treatment.

Monday through Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm or 9:00am - 5:30pm
Administrative Duties:
1. Greets patients upon entering the facility. Assists with directions and information including the location of departments within the clinic.
2. Assist with opening doors and ensuring properly functioning handicap doors within the assigned area. Offers wheelchairs when needed.
3. Utilizes best practices and procedures for handling patient inquiries and requests to provide proactive and immediate support.
4. Shall have working knowledge of all necessary points of contact to problem solve and satisfy customer expectations. Will be able to address/relay patient concerns to appropriate department heads.
5. May assist with other administrative responsibilities.
Pharmacy Tech Duties:
6. Assists patients with using Kiosk.
7. Assists patients with enrolling and using Script Center
8. Assist licensed Pharmacists provide medication and other health care products to patients.
9. Greets members at front desk, enters information about prescriptions into the computer system, and prepares medications for approval by pharmacist. May perform the duties of a Pharmacy Inventory Technician or a Pharmacy mixture Technician.
10. Greets members at counter or over the telephone, verifies member's eligibility status, & receives prescriptions from members for pharmaceuticals.
11. Enters prescription information into computer system & prints labels for use by pharmacist.
12. Perform routine tasks to help prepare prescribed medication, such as counting tablets, requesting drugs from automated cabinet dispenser, reconstituting medications by mixing with fluids, preparing topical ointments, other drugs by mixing prescribed dosages, and labeling bottles for review by pharmacist.
13. Calls members to pick-up completed prescription.
14. Identifies situations when patient should speak w/ pharmacist regarding use of drugs & asks pharmacist to speak to member. Asks each patient: “Have you taken this medication before? Do you have any questions regarding your medication?”
15. Ensures all Health Care Providers are informed of formulary additions/deletions/out of stock medications, including FDA recalls/warnings.
16. May receive written prescriptions or requests for prescription refills from patients and also may receive prescriptions sent electronically from the doctor’s office. They must verify that information on the prescription is complete and accurate.
17. For prescription preparation, technicians must retrieve, count, pour, weigh, measure, sometimes mix the medication, and prepare labels.
18. Establish and maintain patient profiles, stock and take inventory of prescription and over-the-counter medications
19. Attempts to resolve patient concerns and refers patient to appropriate authority. Provides requested information and assistance whenever possible.
20. Assist with other duties as needed and assigned by pharmacist and Pharmacy Director.
1. A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician training course.
3. Must be registered in the state of Virginia as a Pharmacy Technician.
4. Shall have been continuously employed as a CPT for at least one year prior.
5. Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other staff members.
6. Familiar with Microsoft Office applications Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
7. Must possess strong attributes of customer relations and “people skills” (e.g., courteous, attentive listener, patient, strong communications skills).
8. Must possess a positive attitude and certain degree of creativity and latitude in handling difficult situations.
