Responsibilities:Performs all tasks necessary to prepare and deliver medications using a variety of transport mechanisms under the directions of a pharmacist; fills stat medication orders; prepares medication cart for distribution; operates and maintains equipment and reports malfunctioning or broken equipment; uses PC to access HIS or the Pharmacy Purchasing System; restocks all work areas by transfer of stock or filling of appropriate carts/drawers, including emergency stock; maintains current and adequate medication and supplies; utilizes the correct documentation tools and procedures for all pharmacy functions; maintains accurate and complete records by utilizing the correct documentation tools and procedures for all pharmacy functions and maintaining proper records for all medications and controlled substances dispensed or received; maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and supply areas; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards and abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and hospital policies including confidentiality; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via the telephone and the ability to respond to overhead pages; regular and prompt attendance and the ability to work assigned shift including overtime and call; other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent and registry with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician and completion of an ALBOP approved hospital technician training course within six months of registration per ALBOP requirements and completion of sterile compounding training with USA Health. Experience is preferred.
