We are looking for a pharmacy technician who is responsible for assisting with processing of prescription orders, labels, creation of compounding records, delivery tickets and the assembly of patient supplies and equipment under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. The pharmacy technician also assists with quality control, maintenance, and cleaning of the pharmacy work areas, as described in the Pharmacy Policy and Procedures Manual, and performance improvement activities as directed by the pharmacy manager.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent is required.
· Registration as Pharmacy technician or Pharmacy technician trainee with Texas state Board of Pharmacy is required.
· Completion of pharmacy technician training and certified through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Pharmacy Technician Association, preferred, with certification to be completed within one year of employment.
· Laboratory or healthcare experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Previous experience with CPR+ or Caretend software is a plus along with home infusion experience, but not required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Recognizes patients’ rights and responsibilities and supports them in the performance of job duties, respects patient’s rights to privacy and confidentiality.
· Prepares, packages, and distributes medications prescribed by physicians.
· Continually maintains pharmacy area to ensure a clean, well-stocked condition.
· Calibrates pumps daily for base solutions.
· Accurately follow dispensing, processing and shipping processes on the day-to-day basis.
· Assists in calling and scheduling patient's order, insurance verification as well as preparing work orders.
· Accurately maintains all legally required records.
· Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
· Participates in patient evaluations.
· Assists the supervisor in training of new staff and provides appropriate feedback as necessary.
· Assists pharmacists, physicians, nursing, and clinical personnel with pharmacy services.
· Maintains department facilities, equipment, and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff.
· Follows and assists in inventory control procedures.
· Completes paperwork and computer related duties.
· Shares knowledge gained with other staff members and works as a team member.
· Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner.
· Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
· Must have Active Texas Pharmacy technician or Technician in trainee license.
· Must pass all relevant pharmacy competencies within the first 90 days of employment.
· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in the workplace.
· Demonstrate extreme attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
· Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
· Basic computer proficiency.
· Knowledge in the use of Microsoft applications.
