(https://hr.uw.edu/benefits/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/02/benefits-summary-classified-staff-greater-than-half-time-20230701\_a11y.pdf) The **HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER PHARMACY DEPARTMENT** is looking for an outstanding **PHARMACY TECHNICIAN** to join our Inpatient Pharmacy team. **This position is expected to last one year.** **WORK SCHEDULE** - 40 hours per week - Evening shift **POSITION HIGHLIGHTS** - Assist the Pharmacist in professional activities and assigned tasks including preparation and packaging of medications and other pharmacy-related functions - All activities are performed under the general supervision of a registered Pharmacist Strong candidates will have knowledge and experience with sterile intravenous admixture practices preferred, and good communication and organizational skills. **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** - Fill medications from Pyxis refill sheets for the entire hospital. - Deliver medications to nursing units and other areas of the hospital. - Package medications in single-unit packages. - Restock shelves in the unit dose fill and front counter areas. - Complete monthly outdate check and cleaning as assigned by Supervisor. - Fill Ward Stock Requisition sheets for Nursing Units. - Package patient-specific medications in single-unit packages. - Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, perform bulk compounding of pharmaceuticals from a formula. - Perform computer entry of prescriptions and charge/credit data. - Work in the IV room and compound IV medications in accordance with USP 797 standards. - Handle and prepare hazardous drugs in accordance with USP 800 standards. **REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS** Six months of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant OR equivalent education/experience. **LEGAL REQUIREMENT** State of Washington Pharmacy Technician certification. **_CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENTUW Medicine is committed to being a drug-free workplace.
