Job Overview:
We are seeking a qualified Pharmacy Technician to join our team, specializing in the Prior Authorization process. In this role, you will handle high-volume incoming calls from members, providers, and others, providing professional phone assistance while following a criteria-based authorization process. You will also maintain accurate records of approvals and denials, transferring any clinical questions to the pharmacist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer and manage incoming calls related to prior authorization requests from members and providers.
- Provide professional phone assistance through the criteria-based authorization process.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of all approvals and denials.
- Transfer clinical questions and judgment calls to the pharmacist when necessary.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a high-volume customer service position, preferably in healthcare, social services, or a similar field.
- Strong verbal communication skills and a professional demeanor on the phone.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced, high-volume call environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in documentation.
- Proficiency in computer systems and data entry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pharmacy Technician certification (State or National) preferred but not required.
- Experience in a healthcare-related call center is a plus.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
