We’re seeking:
- Enthusiastic students who are eager to develop and apply pharmacy knowledge with a hands-on approach to learning.
- Individuals with strong critical thinking, organization, and time management skills who thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- A general comfort level with mathematics; you will be learning how to calculate drug dosages.
- Previous experience in customer service or healthcare is wonderful, but not required.

- Upon successful completion of the program, employed trainees will move immediately into a permanent role within UW Health. (see link below for more information)
- $3,000 sign on bonus given in addition to this free training, with a two-year commitment.
What’s required:
- Achieve an overall course score of at least 80% for all didactic and simulation material
- Achieve at least 80% on the pharmacy calculations and pharmacology sections
- Successfully complete a media fill test and achieve 80% on the corresponding course material
- Successfully complete all designated experiential competencies
- Sign an Employee Agreement committing to work for UW Health Pharmacy for at least 24 months or reimburse the cost of the program (Cost of the program is $3,400. Amount is not prorated.)
When will you know? Our recruitment timeline is below:
- __11/28/22___: Applications due
- __01/06/23___: Interviews and references completed
- __01/23/23___: Official notification of acceptance
- __02/20/23___: Class begins
Work Schedule:
This is an 18 week training program. Shifts will be scheduled Monday-Friday. Inpatient AM shift start times are from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, PM Shift start times are between 2:30 PM -11:00 PM. Ambulatory shift start times are between 7:00 AM -8:00 PM.
Education:
Minimum –High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred – Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program
Work Experience:
Preferred –One (1) year experience as a pharmacy technician or completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program
Licenses and Certifications:
Preferred –Certified Pharmacy Technician

These employees perform various services and duties, including pharmacy administration, Pharmacy Technician Training Program, pharmacy primary care services, medication prior authorization, sterile and non-sterile compounding, specialty/mail service program and call center.
