Position Summary:
The phlebotomist II performs pre-analytic phases of clinical specimen collection (including arterial blood collection) and preparation primarily in an out-patient setting but may be requested to work in other areas of the lab as needed.
Essential Job Functions:

- PHLEBOTOMIST II_ Acts as a resource for the lab by handling and triaging inquiries to the appropriate personnel, including giving out lab reports and delivering specimens to the appropriate division. 20%
- PHLEBOTOMIST II _Performs the full range of specimen collection, including arterial, venous and capillary blood collection. 40%
- PHLEBOTOMIST II _Performs the full range of duties from specimen procurement through specimen processing by using laboratory equipment and devices. 40%

Required Qualifications:
- Technical knowledge of lab procedures, functions and processes gained through education, experience or a combination of the two
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- State of California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech II)
- State of California Phlebotomy License (Certified Phlebotomy Tech I)
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer one year of phlebotomy experience or completion of UCI phlebotomy program
- Prefer one year of phlebotomy II experience or completion
Licenses and Certifications:
- CPT II (Required)
